I have been inspired by the people I have met over the years.
When I first started my mentor was Leslie Orris who lived in Cookham and died recently at the age of 100. He invited me to join his studio where life, still life and portrait were the subjects. We were well instructed listening to jazz playing in the background and Leslie's story telling, he was our guru.
Later I decided to go to Amersham College on a combined painting course under the tutilage of Gary Spencer BA – now an independent teacher - (firstname.lastname@example.org). Another person with enthusiasm and invaluable direction.
Simon Brewster MA (Simonbrewster99@gmail.com) artist and independent teacher at Chalfont St. Peter is another source of inspiration who uses many ways of producing art. This again has encouraged me to sometimes go away from painting and express myself in a different way. Making small sculptures – work in progress.
Now, again with Gary Spencer in Henley with a group of like minded people who gather over coffee and lively discussions which always gets the adrenalin racing before we settle down to our individual projects for the rest of the day.
So I have plenty to inspire me and people at exhibitions often say “your style is always changing”. I suppose that is true but is that a problem?
